Dwayne called this morning! Fabulous! He is fine and things are going well. He mainly wanted to know how his new house was going. He and Bobbie are having one built.
There is one thing, though. He has not gotten any packages since November 4th and the MotoMails we send have not been received since November 5th. He will have a lot of surprises when he does get them.
One funny thing happened with one of my customers, Helen, from Pennsylvania. She had ordered 4 of the Red Hat Purse Hangers (pictured). You hang your purse on them when you go out to eat or on any table.
She called and e-mailed me that it looked like there was a shipping error. She received a box with a letter from “Granny”, gloves, candy, and other such things. She said it look like a “Care” package.
Well, it was! She got one of Dwayne’s Care Packages that I sent out. Now what is funny is that Dwayne and his burly Marines, will be getting a package with these 4 Purse Hangers.
Can you picture him opening the package up with all the Marines around and finding these purse hangers?
God does have a sense of humor!

From Ruthann
My nephew, SSGT Ryan R. Walker USMC is in Falusia Iraq since early August 2007…his 2nd time. What makes it more difficult for him (for me as well) is his Dad, my brother, died suddenly in June 2007 age 60. Ryan is a remarkable young man who thinks FIRST of his unit, then himself. Everything we send him, he takes very little and puts the rest in a SHARE BOX for his unit to help themselves. Pretty admirable for a 26 year old man. Ryan’s home base is Camp Lejeune, NC. I will pray for your son…I know you are praying for all our Military. I am PROUD to say I am not only a MARINE CORPS AUNT, but also, a MARINE CORPS MOM 1991-1997 Persian Gulf War era (my son Kirk age 34, is a veteran now ). Love & Prayers,Ruthann

I will have you in my prayers tonight. I really appreciate your son and everyone that has fought for my country. I just wished everyone felt this way. Some friends and I went to Indianapolis (we are the next in line for having the most monuments behind Washington DC) and walking out of one of the museums, noticed 3 soldiers standing there. We walked up to them and thanked them for what they were during for our freedom. It was like giving them a hundreds each. They appreciated so much, that we took the time for say thanks. We think they were checking the place out for the Vise President Cheney. He was here. When we left, we felt great.

Read below:
| I was very touched by your Veteran’s Day message. I will keep your son in my prayers. My sister-in-law just returned, and sent me an American flag that had flown over Fallujah on March 6, 2006. For once in my life, I was speechless!Yesterday I had the privilege of having a young man over for dinner who also just returned from Iraq. His mother was my closest friend for over 30 years, and died from breast cancer just before Thanksgiving last year. He was able to take 30 day emergency leave to spend with his mother, but had to return to Iraq 5 days after she passed.
We had such a joyful time! His dad and sister came along, and my whole family, (3 sons), and their friends joined us. We had about 18 people here. It was such a wonderful time to spend with one of America’s finest. This young man is in the Army, and my sister-in-law is Navy.
God bless you and your family,
A faithful shopper and Red Hatter,
Karen (I have erased her last name for privacy) |

Here is Bobbie on Crutches. She was taking Bear to the vet yesterday morning to be fixed. Going down the steps at the house, Bear saw a squirrel and pulled Bobbie along with him to go chase it.
Bobbie was in heels and twisted her ankle. She went to the emergency room, AFTER getting Bear to the vet, and it turned out she has a kind of hairline fracture at her ankle, thus the foot wrap and the crutches.
No to be deterred, she went on to pick out the color of brick for her and Dwayne’s new house AND pick Bear up at the vet.
She then stayed at the house so I could attend a founders day meeting. Then she went to her mom’s so she could go to classes the next day.
What a woman my brother married. Ooh Rah!!

Through a Forum I am a member of with the Marines, I found out about Motomail/Photomail where I sent a letter with a picture attached, through the Internet to Dwayne. They don’t have internet connections where he is.
What happens then is that it is received on a fax machine and is delivered to his unit and him in 24 hours.
That is a real plus. I was so excited to send my first one.

Dwayne called yesterday in a really clear call. It was like he was just down the street. Thank God for phones!!!
He said things are really quite there. Thank you, Jesus!! All are well and they are receiving their packages.
Thanks again to Diane and Chris for sending packages to him and his unit! You Red Hat Society gals are really coming up with some creative ideas. Thanks for the Christmas tree, Chris!!
It looks like he is able to call more than once a week. They buy their minutes on the land line over there.
God Bless,
Red Hat Military Mom

I am a member of some Military Mom Forums and read this would happen. Dwayne called last night and about 2 minutes into the call, it was dropped. He wasn’t able to call back.
But, Bobbie got to hear his voice. So, all’s good!
