Thanks to Karen, A sister in the Red Hat Society

I was very touched by your Veteran’s Day message.  I will keep your son in my prayers.  My sister-in-law just returned, and sent me an American flag that had flown over Fallujah on March 6, 2006.  For once in my life, I was speechless!Yesterday I had the privilege of having a young man over for dinner who also just returned from Iraq.  His mother was my closest friend for over 30 years, and died from breast cancer just before Thanksgiving last year.  He was able to take 30 day emergency leave to spend with his mother, but had to return to Iraq 5 days after she passed. We had such a joyful time!  His dad and sister came along, and my whole family, (3 sons), and their friends joined us.  We had about 18 people here.  It was such a wonderful time to spend with one of America’s finest.  This young man is in the Army, and my sister-in-law is Navy.
