Russian Memorial to 9-11

Russian Memorial to 9-11

September 11, 2006 – Dedication of the memorial “To the Struggle Against World Terrorism”

Time cures everything, but there are things we cannot and must not forget. Standing more than 100 feet tall, “To the Struggle Against World Terrorism” honors victims of 9/11 and the 1993 World Trade Center bombings and serves a symbol of solidarity in the fight against world terrorism.

Created by Russian sculptor Zurab Tsereteli, the memorial was a gift from the Russian people. The Memorial was dedicated on the fifth anniversary of 9/11, in a ceremony attended by President Bill Clinton, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff, Governor Jon Corzine, Senator Frank Lautenberg, Senator Robert Menendez and family members of World Trade Center victims. Grammy award winner, Leann Rimes, sang the National Anthem. By day, or nighttime when it is lit, the Memorial is clearly visible from lower Manhattan, the Staten Island Ferry, ships passing through New York Harbor and airplanes approaching Newark Airport.

In October, Harbor View Park officially opened to the public. Harbor View Park was built by the BLRA and funded in part by the Hudson County Open Space Trust Fund and a contribution from Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Its centerpiece is the 9/11 memorial “To the Struggle Against World Terrorism.”

With $600,000 in Green Acres funding from New Jersey’s Department of Environmental Protection, the BLRA will construct a new bulkhead along Harbor View Park’s eastern boundary, stabilize the shoreline, and extend the park all the way to river’s edge.

The American Way

March 27, 2009 by cresa

I wonder - whatever happened to this kind of thinking? I got a lump in my throat when I read this. I “grew up” thinking, patriotism, it is the AMERICAN way! I am glad to see that somebody saved them.

These were our parents. What in God’s name have we let happen?

My son is getting married

February 25, 2009 by cresa

My son, Dwayne, and Bobbie, his wife were married by the Justice of the Peace before he went to Iraq.  Well, on their two year anniversary, they are getting married by our pastor in the church.  A full regalia wedding with reception.  I am soo excited for them as they have been through a lot.  Dwayne is still serving and is trying for the Navy Seals.  That, as I am sure you know, is no easy task.

It seems he has such loft dreams and I support him as a Navy Mom should.  I love him and my daughter so much.  They have both been fortunate to marry the best of the best!  My daughter has given me two fabulous grandchildren that are the light of my life.

Time goes by so fast, doesn’t it?

I will post pictures from the wedding next week!

My son is home

May 26, 2008 by cresa

God Honors His WarriorsI know it has been a while since I have written.  Lots of things have happened.  Dwayne is back home!!!  His wife is ecstatic and, of course, so am I.

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes.  The notes from the sisterhood of Military Families has been my encouragement.

I will keep writing in this blog.  Because, as you know, it ain’t over until the Military says it’s over.

On Memorial Day, my thoughts and prayers go to all the sons and daughters that didn’t make it back.  Their bravery, honor, and courage will live on in the lives of the families left behind.

We have our Freedoms because of them!

In my town of Old River-Winfree, we are hold our first annual Founders Dthe Soldieray and to start the day off, we are havin a 5K and 3K run/walk to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project and in loving Memory of PFC Wesley R. Riggs, who was my son’s best friend.

We also plan to start a scholarship memorial in Pfc Rigg’s name.  I am waiting on the parents to give me the guidelines of what kind of Senior we are looking for.

If you would like to participate in this run/walk, just go to http://www.orwfoundersday.com

Visit there and if you are interest in honoring this hero and his family, just register on any of the pages.

Also, this is something else I found and made a graphic of it.  It is sooo true.

God Bless!

Silence

February 28, 2008 by cresa

The silence if defining!  Communications was cut off this week.  They are moving.  We hope that move is home, but we won’t know until his boots hit the ground in the good old United States of America.

Please pray for his wife, me and my family!    Your prayers are needed.

The silence is defining!

God Bless!
